Slaves – The Hunter
Slaves thrive in minimalism and loudmouth garage punk, and ‘The Hunter’ is no different. Only continuing their rise to fame, this bouncy track packs captivating dark and dirty riffs and sneering vocals that cut to the point with an essence of punk with spitting spoken poetry. Full of chaos and angst, ‘the Hunter’ is quite possibly the most powerful effort from slaves so bar. Despite bordering on self-mocking, the lyrics are raw and honest “Will the experts look stupid and invert the facts? Will they give you back your donations or keep the paper stacks?” With such motivating big statements about everything from global warming, throughout ‘the Hunter’ Slaves throw up their middle fingers “We say what we are thinking and that shocks and frightens you”. This neat mixture of confusion and honesty wrapped all up tasty garage punk only adds to the ever-growing and engaging phenomenon that is Slaves.
